Easy access, security, store, sites vary but I had one with a concrete pad that made the difference in the rainstorm. Well kept up though the roads are narrow and a little rough, but not really a problem. Nice people, clean, nice bathroom.

I'm here now based on the other review. It's a small, clean park but no shade, not much space to walk dogs, only three or four cable channels, owner seemed nice but left before giving me keys to get into the washroom. I asked for the phone # but he didn't give it to me. Its fine, I'm just not giving it the enthusiasm of the other review, and the price seems high for what's (not)here.

This park has a nice "Cheeseburgers in Paradise" feel. Its in two parts, the beach side is more pricey and to me seems worthwhile only if you're in the first row in front of the beach. The opposite side of the street is the park office and a little nicer looking park, but the spots are so tight I don't know how the larger units get in (I have a class B). If you stay in this section, ask if the guy is doing woodcarvings with his chainsaw. Apparently he's a regular fixture and while the carvings are nice the awful noise was a big negative for me. Otherwise a great place, and thanks to the reviewer who mentioned you can walk your dogs on this beach! A big big plus!

I loved this place. I was there on a Thursday night when only about 1/2 the campground was full but they really fill on the w/e. I did not experience the smoke problem described in other posts but could see it happening with a full campground. The place is absolutely lovely - be sure to take the $4- Tram tour around the park, and there are numerous 30' walks through various ecological areas. This was one of Florida's first State Parks, built by the Civilian Conservation Corp. They and nature did an outstanding job!

This is a nice and convenient park. I have 2 dogs and was not charged extra for them. No cable hookup, always a surprise at a park near a sizable town. Dog area near entrance but plenty of dog walking area all around the park.

Harbor Lakes is a gigantic Encore RV park the size of a small city, a mix of RV's and park models. No shade, open wide streets, oversize lots at a higher price. About 20 min. drive to beaches. No cable, so priced high for what you get. Nothing special, not scenic.

This Encore park is in a beautiful natural setting despite the tight spacing of units. There are two fenced dogie area and lots of nice walking areas. Large pines and palms, small parks interspersed, plus the Dora river on one side. Mix of Park Models and RVs.

I really like this park (am here now) Very attractive setting, nice owners, easy on/off I-20 but don't notice road noise. Best is, with 2 dogs, they have a very cute fenced dog area in front, and also allow dog walking throughout the park. It is high in price, especially with the motel 8 next door at a few dollars more, but very good place.

I stayed here last night. Although it's right off the highway, call for directions so you know where to turn (east end of town) AND to get a space. I got the last one last night. Not that this is a special place, just okay, adequate. I think a lot of units were residential workers. Each time I went to use the restroom the door was locked with someone else using it. Only about 6 cable channels. I got in late and left early so it served its purpose for a place to sleep.

We are here now for the Western States Class B Rally, an informal gathering of about 40 rigs. The campground is very accommodating and easy for all of us to get together but still have privacy when desired. The location a few miles north of town along the highway so there is some highway noise. A berm protects the walkway along the Colorado river for a nice stroll. Sites are a bit close together but good shade trees and a larger than average separate area for tents.

I'm here now in a class B motorhome. A nice breeze is in fact coming in off the water. The campground is very pleasant, my site 162 has a good shade tree but most don't. Nice flowering shrubs and a shaded dog walk. Small man-made beach on the sound is perfectly acceptable, beach chairs and a pier are there. Everything very clean, friendly, heated pool and hot tub, also cute cabins. Right on the highway.

My new favorite place. Choose the Pine campground for serenity and some shade. Great access to a most beautiful and unpopulated beach. No cell service so make your calls ahead of time, this State Park is at the far end of the island and not near amenities. Just a beautiful spot and gorgeous beach.

Right off the interstate so easy to get to without a lot of road noise. My rate was $26 with Good Sam. Large park with trees, but no shade for the rv itself, and today was hot and windy. The grassy areas lacked watering and were dry. A dog walk area which is adequate but they don't want dogs walked around the park other than the dog area so it is limiting. This is just a big park that has what you need for overnight, but unless you need to be in Amarillo, nothing to recommend it for longer.

This is a really lovely park, the most "park like" I've been in with lots of grass and trees. Spacious sites, I have #16 with afternoon shade; 15 next to me has a decorative concrete garden table and benches. There's a good-size dog area with "hydrants" but lots of other walking area as well, along a small lake and the river. I also had a bit of trouble finding the park, the highway running through town is marked with several route numbers which can be confusing for someone new to the area. What I did, and my suggestion is, to go to the Texas Tourist Info place at the NW end of the highway as you go through town. They will give you a city map and mark the route to the campground for you. From there I easily got back on the highway, off at exit 1A, right at the light and down the road a couple of miles. this is one of the nicest parks I've stayed at and I highly recommend it.

Well, I pulled in here just now based on the other rating, and I would say yes, and no. Although I spoke with a very friendly Wendy last night saying I'd be here today, there was no one in the office, nor could I get her on her cell. A list of available sites hung on the office door, so I picked one from the list in the shade (not all are and its 90 degrees out) but right after I hooked up someone came over to tell me he had booked that site for tonight. I unhooked and took the only other (more expensive) somewhat shaded site along the small lake. Wendy quoted me $25 on the phone last night, but hopefully I'll see her tonight to pay her and hopefully that will be the price. There is substantial road noise, to be expected since its on the hwy. but the other side of this small, attractive campground is a nice lake. Cable is not available, so road noise, limited shade, no cable and no one in the office are the reasons I rated it lower.

Never again. We stayed for the walk-to access to the kayak rental place, but this campground is anything but Peaceful. We stayed two nights and both were loud with little kids on big Atv's, and smoky from campfires. Showers were good but not particularly clean. I wish I'd checked here first before making my reservation.

This campground is now called Turtle Beach Campground. Its small with about 40 or so sites, all back in so not great for big rigs. The closer to the beach the more the site costs. Some are shaded, others in sun. The beach is right there, lovely to have such easy access any time of day or night. Its a relatively quiet beach for Sarasota, and not the white Siesta Key sand but darker and more gritty, still quite lovely. Showers were just so-so but the beach is the thing here. There are two restaurants right across the street. No pets allowed. I'd stay here again.

This is a handy park near I-10, with nice big trees. Restroom and showers are clean and adequate, nothing special. Sites are semi-level crushed shells and gravel.

Good part was plenty of area for dogs to run, and that its just outside of park. Those are the only good parts, restrooms are poor, no security lighting, no cable for $20. I should have taken the time to go the extra 20 miles back to Carlsbad and stayed at one of the campgrounds with good reviews. Don't stay here if you don't have to.

I really liked this park. Restroom is clean AND cute, owner very nice and had little bandanas for my dogs, and a package of microwave popcorn for me. Plenty of dog-walking area. These are grass sites and it was raining so things were a bit muddy, but all together a nice experience. This campground is not marked on the highway signs.
